All these while, coping with studies and exams could have very well been your main emphasis. But while all these are important, it is also essential to maintain and lead a vibrant and enriching campus life.
Why not take time off and start running? Challenge yourself; or simply use it as an opportunity to spend quality time with your peers.
To many, running has been a way for them to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For me personally, it is a little something more. I feel that running should be a dream and challenge for each one of us. Zoe Kopwlowitz, member of the Achilles Track Club once said, “Have a dream, make a plan, go for it. You’ll get there, I promise.” Despite having multiple sclerosis, Zoe Koplowitz finished the 1993 New York City Marathon in 24 hours on crutches. That was a challenge to his race; as well as a challenge to his life.
I believe that every new race you embarked on should be seen as a brand new challenge for yourself. There are only winners in those who chose take up the challenge, and the only losers being those who fear to compete with themselves.
On behalf of the Organising Committee of Run NUS 2008, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all NUS students, staff, alumni, JC, Poly, ITE and Secondary School students and not forgetting, the general public to join us in our event this year, as we strive to promote a healthy lifestyle and foster a strong sporting culture, starting from our beloved university.
So what are you waiting for? Come join us!
